Johnson has enjoyed a break from rugby since retiring |
Ex-England captain Martin Johnson says he has been approached about a role with the Rugby Football Union but is not ready to return to rugby. "People have made overtures to me about coming back but the time isn't right," Johnson told The Times newspaper.
"I honestly haven't decided what I want to do," added the 37-year-old, who retired from playing in 2005.
"I will get involved in coaching if and when I want to. The biggest criteria is that I 100% want to do it."
Johnson has been linked with a return to the England set-up in the wake of the world champions' demise in recent years.
But he insisted he would not be be badgered into taking on a coaching or managerial role, either at club or international level.
"I will not do it because somebody says they think I should," said the former Leicester captain.
"I have always felt coaching must be the most frustrating business in the world. It is full-on seven days a week."
"People think if I turned up, I could wave a magic wand and England would be instantly successful," he added. "Sorry, but it doesn't happen like that. Teams have to build and grow over time."
