Farrell played 20 minutes off the bench against the Blues |
Saracens director of rugby Alan Gaffney says that Andy Farrell will be given the chance to play at inside centre "at the appropriate time". Farrell again came on at blind-side flanker as Saracens lost 40-29 to Cardiff Blues in the EDF Energy Cup.
However the England set-up are keen to see what Farrell can do in the backs.
"I had an affable discussion with Andy Robinson and at an appropriate time Andy Farrell will get an opportunity at 12," Gaffney said.

But Gaffney also revealed his frustration at the way the situation has been handled.
"We have to consider Andy Farrell and Saracens in all this," said Gaffney.
"Andy has been left out of all this, as have the other party, Saracens.
"I mean, do we feature in this at all or is it team England?
"Everybody seems to have a say in this and a lot of it seems to be ill-informed I have to say.
"The part that annoys me about this is that 12 is a difficult position to play and it's one of the most technical positions on a rugby pitch.
"The expectations being put on Andy Farrell are beyond belief."
