Lea'aetoa played for Tonga at the 2003 World Cup |
London Irish have strengthened their front row for next season by signing Tongan international prop Tonga Lea'aetoa on a two-year deal. The loose head, who had a season at Nottingham before joining current side Pau, will arrive in July when his international commitments are finished.
"He's a good scrummager, can play either side and is very agile," said director of rugby Brian Smith.
"He's a current test player. We've been fortunate to get him out of France."
Lea'aetoa was born in New Zealand before having a spell in Australia, where he won Wallabies' U21 caps and spent two seasons with the New South Wales Waratahs.
"I'm looking forward to playing for London Irish. Everyone's been talking about the positive rugby the club has played this season and that style suits my game," he said.
"Playing in the Premiership and European Cup will be an exciting challenge for me but that's why I play this game."
