Castaignede signs Saracens deal
Thomas Castaignede enjoys the victory over England this year
Castaignede recently earned his 50th cap for France
Saracens utility back Thomas Castaignede has signed a new one-year contract that will keep him at Vicarage Road until the end of next season.

The 31-year-old, who joined Sarries from Castres in 2000, admits that this could be the final deal he will sign.

"This could be last my year with Sarries so I will be making sure that we have good one," he said.

"It was no secret that I wanted to stay and I'm pleased to say that I have signed a new contract with the club."

Castaignede, who had an injury-plagued start to his Saracens career, has been in fine form as the club fought back from a dismal start to push for a place in the Heineken Cup with the help of former Australia coach Eddie Jones.

And his performances for his club led to his recall to the France team last year.

"Saracens is my club and I've been here such a long time, through ups and downs," he added.

"I think another reason to stay for another season is the way the club is looking forward. A big part of me signing was that when Eddie Jones arrived, he brought a new direction to the club and things look good for us.

"The impact that he has had on the club cannot be underestimated and with Alan Gaffney coming in, I think things are going to keep on improving with the quality of the coaches and players that are going to be at the club next season.

"The club has been good to me over the years with my injuries and I still want to repay the support I have received. I want to make the supporters happy.

"I came to Saracens to win a trophy and we havent won anything in the six years Ive been here. So now Ive got one year left to help the club to do it.

"I want to be remembered for playing well at the club and for giving it my best every time I play."
