Injured Dawson may retire early
Matt Dawson
Dawson is to retire from rugby at the end of the current season
Wasps scrum-half Matt Dawson suffered an ankle injury in the 13-12 defeat by Saracens that could bring a premature end to his playing career.

The 33-year-old, who is to retire at the end of the season, was hit by a late tackle from Taine Randell with 10 minutes to go in the first half.

"We'll have to have Matt's injury scanned to see how bad it is," said Wasps coach Ian McGeechan.

"We're disappointed that it happened off the ball with a late tackle."

Dawson had to be helped from the field and did not play any further part in the game.

An hour after the incident he was still struggling to walk, and left Vicarage Road in a surgical boot and on crutches.
