Mauger has played 36 Tests for New Zealand |
New Zealand centre Aaron Mauger is being courted by Leicester Tigers, according to the player's agent. Lou Thompson revealed the Canterbury and Crusaders player could move to Europe after next year's World Cup.
Thompson told the Herald on Sunday: "It is a work in progress. Leicester have expressed an interest and a number of other clubs are interested.
"But he might want to sign an extension with the New Zealand Rugby Union. He's not ready to make any decisions."
Thompson added that Mauger, 25, could play in Europe for a few years before returning home in time for the 2011 event, which will be hosted on home soil.
"He will only be 26 after the next World Cup. He might be able to squeeze through to another World Cup," said Thompson.
Mauger was just 20 when he made his international debut against Ireland in 2001 and has played 36 Tests for New Zealand.
