Cautious Corry in final warning
Leicester captain Martin Corry
Corry was in the wars again
Leicester captain Martin Corry insists their Premiership semi-final win over London Irish will count for little if they do not go on to win the final.

The Tigers will face the Sharks at Twickenham on 27 May after a crushing 40-8 victory over the Exiles on Sunday.

"We played well and I am very happy with that," Corry said. "We wanted to keep hold of the ball and we did.

"We will take that scoreline but it counts for very little if we don't reproduce it in two weeks' time."

Scrum-half Harry Ellis signalled Leicester's desire to make up for recent disappointments on big occasions with a man-of-the-match display, capped with a superb individual try.

"London Irish have been playing outstandingly well at the end of the season and we had to be on our mettle," he said.

"Recently in big games we haven't shown up but the crowd got behind us and we turned in a much better display.

We found Leicester very difficult to break down
London Irish director of rugby Brian Smith

"Winning something is well overdue and we are looking forward to the final now."

London Irish director of rugby Brian Smith said his team had failed to cope with Leicester's pack, giving the backs little opportunity to show their skills.

"We knew Leicester would try to squeeze the life out of us, and the bottom line was they probably achieved their mission," said Smith.

"Once we faced a two-try deficit, we were forcing the game. We found Leicester very difficult to break down, and even though we threw the kitchen sink at them, we came up short.

"The team will be very disappointed because you like to perform at your best in semi-finals and finals, but that was probably as good as Leicester have played all season."
