Scores from Juan Leguizamon and Topsy Ojo put the Exiles in control, and they went into half-time 26-6 ahead after late tries from Delon Armitage and Ojo.

Second-half tries from Gareth Delve and Lee Mears cut the gap to 26-21.

Sailosi Tagicakibau's try took the Exiles clear and meant Alex Crockett's late try gave Bath a bonus point.

Bath started slowly as the Irish pack bossed them around the pitch, giving number eight Leguizamon the chance to pick up off the back of the scrum and drive over.

Chris Malone's 24th-minute penalty got Bath on the scoreboard, but a delightful series of sidesteps from Exiles winger Ojo allowed him to run 30m through the defence to score.

Malone kicked a second penalty to keep Bath in the hunt at 12-6 as the clock ticked down towards half-time, but two mistakes in injury-time proved very costly to Bath.

First, prop Duncan Bell coughed up possession to gift a try to Armitage.

And it got worse for Bell as his pass moments later was intercepted by Ojo.

Bath had to start the second-half strongly and they did, with Delve powering over after a catch-and-drive from the line-out.

Five minutes later, Mears crossed on the right and Malone's conversion brought Bath to within five points with more than half an hour to go.

But the Exiles tightened up their defence, and it was they who scored the next try with Tagicakibau going over on 76 minutes.

Crockett's score did at least give Bath a potentially valuable losing bonus point, but Bath really needed the victory.
