Bath sign Kiwi scrum-half Fulton

Bath have signed ex-Auckland scrum-half Billy Fulton until the end of the season to cover Martyn Wood's absence.

Wood is sidelined for the rest of the season while Andy Williams could be involved in Wales' Six Nations plans.

Fulton, 27, has played in the Super 12 with Otago Highlanders and Auckland Blues, and in New Zealand's NPC with Auckland and North Harbour.

He also has previous Premiership experience in England with Harlequins and last season with Northampton.

Fulton will provide back-up to current first-choice scrum-half Nick Walshe.

"We are keen to bring in players when required who want to play for the club and have a point to prove and Billy joins us having forgone a family Christmas in New Zealand," said Bath coach Michael Foley.

"He has also postponed his wedding and is extremely excited about joining the club."

Fulton, who is an Irish passport holder, said he was looking forward to a "very exciting opportunity".

"My first impressions have been excellent as this seems like a very happy squad," he said.

"The city is beautiful here too and everyone has made me feel extremely welcome."
