Live commentary on BBC Radio Newcastle and this website

There are no changes to the Exiles' starting line-up from the team beaten 21-19 at home by Bath last Sunday.

Lions hopeful Jonny Wilkinson will start his first Falcons game for seven weeks. "He's fit and raring to go," declared rugby director Rob Andrew.

Mathew Tait comes in for the injured Michael Stephenson on the left wing and Matt Burke replaces Dave Walder.

At scrum-half, Hall Charlton starts for James Grindal. In the pack, Micky Ward returns for David Wilson at tight head.

Newcastle are safe on 43 points, but London Irish must win if they are to be absolutely sure of avoiding relegation.

Head coach Gary Gold said: "We all know what's at stake and how important a result is for the club."

Newcastle are aiming for a place in the Zurich Wild Card semi-finals, and possible European qualification.
