Wood had been in good form for Bath before his injury |
Bath scrum-half Martyn Wood will not play again this season after undergoing neck surgery on Saturday. The 28-year-old injured his neck in an unusual training incident and now faces nine months on the sidelines.
"Wood had an operation on an unstable joint in his neck, the result of a trampolining accident the other week," said Bath coach John Connolly.
"He's out for the season but we're delighted that he is healthy after having the operation."
Connolly saw his problems worsen after Wood's stand-in, Nick Walshe, suffered a knee injury during Sunday's draw with Saracens.
Walshe was hurt during a stamping incident involving Saracens prop Cobus Visagie, who could face disciplinary action.
