 | MATCH SUMMARY Bristol 32 (19) Tries: Lemi, Winters Cons: Strange (2) Pens: Strange (6) Leeds 6 (6) Pens: Ross (2) |
Jason Strange kicked 22 points to leave Leeds still looking for their first Premiership win of the season. Tries at the end of each half from David Lemi and Roy Winters sealed the win which lifted Bristol above Bath.
Bristol led 19-6 at half-time, with Lemi squeezing over in the corner, and Winters wrapped up the points late on.
Leeds had only two first-half penalties by Gordon Ross to show for their efforts, and they remain rooted to the foot of the table, eight points adrift.
Bristol head coach Richard Hill says his team are on target for Premiership survival after their latest win. "We have 14 points from seven matches, so if we keep that up we should have 42 come the end of the season," he said.
"I'd be disappointed if we went down having achieved that. This is way ahead of where we thought we would be."
Leeds director of rugby Phil Davies declined to comment after the Tykes went down 32-6 at Bristol.
But ex-Scotland hooker Gordon Bulloch said: "The boys are really trying hard but we are not getting the rub of the green in some of these games."
With Davies being moved upstairs, Bulloch admitted now might be the time for the club to recruit a new coach.
"It might be the thing that changes us around. We have to try something now, and everyone needs to pull together."
