Northampton owner Keith Barwell feels plans for possible central contracts for top England players will not work. The Rugby Football Union are thinking about the idea to boost England's hopes of retaining the World Cup in 2007.
But Barwell told BBC Radio Northampton: "It is impossible to achieve. When they won the World Cup the first thing Clive Woodward did was to thank the clubs.
"I think Andy Robinson is trying to get a bit of ammunition for excuses for poor performances in months to come."
