Lewsey was injured during the Lions' unsuccessful tour to New Zealand |
Wasps back Josh Lewsey is set to miss the first two months of the Premiership season because of a shoulder injury. Lewsey, 28, injured his left shoulder during the Lions tour to New Zealand and had an operation last week.
"The op went well and there have been no complications," said Lewsey.
"I've got around eight weeks before I'm back playing, and that gives me the opportunity to complete a full pre-season programme."
The England international added: "In a way, the injury is a blessing in disguise as it gives me a bit more time to recover and come back fully fit and fresh after a long summer of international rugby.
"I'm hoping to be back playing in time for the start of Wasps' European campaign and be available for selection for the autumn internationals."
Wasps flanker James Haskell, 20, will also miss the start of the season after injuring his wrist.
Haskell, who played for England in the Under-21 World Cup in Argentina this summer, will be out for eight to 10 weeks.
