Simpson-Daniel ruled out of the clash with Canada |
James Simpson-Daniel could be back in action for Gloucester in Saturday's Heineken Cup match against Cardiff. The 22-year-old wing has been out with an injured hamstring since the Cherry and Whites' October win over Ulster in round two of the competition.
Simpson-Daniel had a fitness test on Monday to gauge how much involvement he could have in this week's training.
"I felt pretty good and if I continue the progression, then I could be available," he told the club's website.
"It's been unbelievably frustrating missing out on the last few weeks." Meanwhile, hooker Chris Fortey has had an operation on his fractured fibula delayed while he waits for swelling around the ankle area to go down.
The 29-year-old did the damage to his right leg during Friday's 24-14 win over Sale Sharks.
Gloucester's medical team will monitor the level of swelling and are hoping to operate on Wednesday.
