Saracens 14-9 Gloucester
Full-back Robbie Kydd scored all Saracens' points

Gloucester: (6) 9
Pens: Amor 3
Saracens moved to within two points of Gloucester in the race for the European places with a hard-earned Zurich Premiership victory at Vicarage Road.

Full-back Robbie Kydd scored all their points with a try and three penalties as the hosts recovered from last week's hammering by Harlequins.

The teams were locked 6-6 at half-time as Gloucester fly-half Simon Amor and Kydd landed two penalties apiece.

But Kydd's try early on the resumption proved the decisive score.

Last week, there was no indication our defence would be diabolical and this week there was no hint it would be fantastic
Rod Kafer
Saracens coach

All Gloucester could muster was a bonus point for finishing within seven points of their opponents.

And the injury-hit visitors suffered a blow just before kick-off when captain Jake Boer pulled out with a groin problem.

Saracens, themselves without five starters, fell behind on 12 minutes when Amor punished an infringement by French hooker Raphael Ibanez..

Kydd levelled with one of his own before the half-hour and the two traded penalties again as the first half drew to a close.

I think the spirit of the side was great
Nigel Melville
Gloucester coach

The hosts stuck to their task and scored the only try of the game after 42 minutes when a long kick was collected by winger Tevita Vaikona.

He passed to Ben Johnston, who in turn released Kydd to touch down in the right-hand corner.

Amor did reduce the deficit to two points on the hour with his third penalty, but Kydd added another to clinch victory.
