Exiles hit by injury crisis
Samoan Peter Poulos
Poulos has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament
London Irish are reeling from serious injuries to four senior players.

Samoan Peter Poulos could be out for the season with a knee injury, while Paul Sackey, Darren Edwards and Adrian Flavin are all out for over a month.

Back-row forward Poulos has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament and will be sidelined for up to nine months.

"The loss of four talented members of the senior squad is a setback," said an Irish spokesman. "We wish them a speedy and successful recovery."

Wing Sackey will be out for up to six weeks after rupturing ankle ligaments in a club training session.

Scrum-half Edwards is suffering from a fractured cheekbone sustained against Saracens two days ago. He will see a specialist later this week to determine whether surgery is required.

Hooker Flavin has a prolapsed disc in his neck, and is due to see a consultant neurosurgeon during the next few days.

He is likely to have a pain-killing injection to settle his symptoms but he will not play again for at least six weeks.
