Mayerhofler breaks leg

Falcons centre Mayerhofler has also turned out for NZ Barbarians

Newcastle's fears that centre Mark Mayerhofler has broken his leg have been confirmed.

Mayerhofler, a former All Black, was injured during the Falcons Premiership win over Harlequins on Sunday and was forced to leave the field early.

X-rays have since revealed the New Zealander has fractured a fibula and will be sidelined for around six weeks.

It means Mayerhofler, 31, definitely misses games against Gloucester, Leicester, Saracens and Sale.
