Wilkinson suffered a slight knock to his arm in the match |
England fly-half Jonny Wilkinson will play two games in six days as he steps up his return from injury. Wilkinson, who made his comeback as Newcastle beat Connacht on Tuesday, faced Munster on Monday and will take on Pertemps Bees on Saturday.
After winning the World Cup with England in November 2003 Wilkinson played just 58 minutes during the rest of the season due to nerve damage.
"He has been outstanding in pre-season, " said Falcons coach Rob Andrew.
"He's as good as he ever was, and he's been absolutely on fire in training.
"He has also been very relaxed - like he said he would be - but we saw that change in the 24 hours before the Connacht match, when he went into game mode. That's what you would expect."
Wilkinson, who has vowed to put an emphasis on enjoyment when he plays following such a lengthy lay-off, was back at the Falcons' Limerick training base on Wednesday.
"I've been waiting a long time to get back out there, and I am very rusty, but so are the rest of the lads. It's going to be a very long season, and we will get better.
"I am just glad to be back, and the plan now is to get as much game time as possible.
"I was more than happy with the way I tested the shoulder in the tackles."
