Kafer feels the row was a private matter |
Saracens boss Rod Kafer has criticised ref Steve Leyshon after being hauled before a RFU disciplinary panel for allegedly abusing the match official. Kafer, it is claimed, verbally laid into Leyshon after a 22-18 defeat by Northampton on 15 February.
He now faces a hearing on 9 March, but believes Leyshon should not have reported their discussion.
"I'm disappointed the ref has decided to make public the comments he invited me to make in private," he said.
The former Wallaby was angered by Leyshon's decision to blow for full-time rather than award his side a penalty under the posts.
Kafer said: "It's common practice for refs to ask head coaches for their views after a game and in this instance he didn't like what he heard.
"These were comments made in an area of the tunnel restricted to match officials only."
Saracens chief executive Mark Sinderberry added: "We support the judicial process fully but will seek further advice before making a decision on what course of action to follow."
