Fleck looks like missing out on the World Cup |
Bath have signed South Africa centre Robbie Fleck on a two-year deal. Fleck is out of favour with the Springboks and looks unlikely to make the World Cup, although Bath are not yet certain when he will be able to join them.
The 28-year-old has won 31 caps for South Africa and last played for the Boks in their heavy defeat by England in November 2002.
The skilful, hard-running centre from Western Province said he was delighted to be joining a club with such a big history.
"I am very happy to be joining Bath Rugby," he said.
"Like Western Province it is a club with a massive tradition and the two clubs also play a similar style of rugby, which was a major factor for me.
"I am very keen and excited about what is going to be a fresh opportunity to further my rugby career with a great club. I am looking forward to it."
Bath director of rugby Jack Rowell said he thought Fleck would be a great addition to the Bath back line.
"Robbie has been one of the leading centres in world rugby in recent years and at 28 he is still an ambitious young man," said Rowell.
"His class and experience should prove an invaluable contribution as Bath Rugby plan to revive their fortunes."
Fleck is Bath's 16th signing this summer and joins the likes of David Flatman, Martyn Wood and Rob Fidler among the new arrivals.
