 Mercier's injury was Gloucester's only concern |
Gloucester 29-11 Quins
Gloucester ensured they will finish top of the Zurich Premiership with a resounding win over Harlequins.
Victory left the Cherry and Whites 14 points clear of second placed Wasps, with two games left of the regular season.
They also secured their passage to the play-off final on 31 May, when they hope to confirm their season's dominance by claiming the title against the second or third-place side.
Henry is now starting to see the game as a union and not a league player Gloucester coach Nigel Melville on Henry Paul |
Henry Paul offered Gloucester most invention in the early stages and opened the scoring with a jinking run that split the Quins defence.
Ludovic Mercier converted and added the extras again when a break down the right by full-back Thinus Delport set up the Cherry and Whites' second try.
Delport was held up in the corner but Gloucester quickly switched play left through five pairs of hands before Jake Boer crossed the line.
However, the momentum Gloucester had built by that stage was lost as they fell foul of referee Steve Lander and conceded several penalties.

Paul Burke, the Quins stand-off, put the first two over to give Quins a chance but saw his third bounce off the post.
Gloucester regained their composure during the break and sealed the Premiership title with two tries in as many minutes early in the second half.
The first came courtesy of a loose pass from Quins centre Will Greenwood, intercepted by Gloucester's flying wing James Simpson-Daniel for a gift of a try under the posts.
Mercier converted but he was off-target with his next kick after he had scored himself by breaking the Quins defence with a clever chip through.
Thereafter, Gloucester took a firmer grip but were surprised by a Quins breakout that ended with hooker Tani Fuga backing up well for a try.
Gloucester were given a rousing reception at the end and the home fans' mood was only dampened by a leg injury to their ace kicker Mercier, who was stretchered off.
At 14-6 to Gloucester it was a shocking pass and thereafter the game was finished Mark Evans, Quins chief executive |
For Quins' fans, though, there was more gloom to consider on the journey back up the M4 as chief executive Mark Evans announced that injured Ireland captain Keith Wood has played his last game for the club.
Evans said: "Keith is still injured but will not play again for Quins this season, nor will he be taken on for next year."
