Dowd joined Wasps in 2001 |
Former All Black prop Craig Dowd has re-signed with Wasps for two more years. Dowd, who joined the club in 2001, is widely considered to be one of the best props ever seen in world rugby.
"I'm really pleased that Craig has agreed to the terms about his re-signing with us, as he is certainly an asset for the club," said Wasps boss Warren Gatland.
Gatland added that the current financial situation meant that Dowd was taking a pay cut to stay put.
"To me, this shows true commitment and loyalty from his side," said Gatland.
Dowd said he wanted to help the club become one of the strongest in Europe.
Big future
"I'm very happy to be staying on at the club. London Wasps is big club and on it's way to greater heights," said the 33-year-old.
"I'm confident that we will achieve this over the next two years and it's important for me to a part of it."
Asked how much longer he wants to play rugby, Dowd said: "As long as the mind's willing and the body's able, I guess.
"I'm really enjoying my rugby at the moment. I'm going to play these next two seasons and then re-assess it."
