Former Wales international second row Craig Quinnell has completed a move to join ambitious English Division One side Worcester until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old was released by Saracens last month and had been linked with Leeds, Llanelli and Cardiff.

But Quinnell has opted to stay in England - but has not ruled out a return to his homeland once a new club structure is finalised.

Worcester director of rugby John Brain said: "We are delighted that Craig has chosen Worcester.

"At 6ft 7in and around 20 stones, he will provide both physical presence and a ball carrying option that we believe will enhance our push for promotion."

Quinnell's agent Mike Burton said he had talks with both Llanelli and Cardiff over a possible move.

He added: "Worcester have made a very attractive offer and Craig decided to join them because he wants to be in gainful employment.

"He doesn't want to be hanging around waiting for Wales to decide on its structure for next season.

"But Craig will review the situation at the end of the season and his heart is in Wales."

Quinnell made his last international appearance in the Six Nations defeat to France in February last year, but still harbours ambitions of pulling on the red shirt again.

The lock made just six appearances for Saracens after joining the London-based club on a four-year contract in the summer in a reported �400,000 move.

He was signed just a week before the arrival of new head coach Wayne Shelford and it is thought that the two did not see eye to eye.
