The 22-year-old has moved from Leicester, where he made 27 appearances for the this season. Goode believes that playing alongside England scrum-half Kyran Bracken will enhance his own international prospects with Clive Woodward's squad.
"I'm looking forward to playing with Kyran and hopefully I can build on that and break into the England set-up," he said. He is also "very excited" to be linking up with All Blacks' legend Wayne Shelford. "I'm sure the success this club deserves can be brought here and a massive aim for us will be to get into the Heineken Cup," said Goode, who won four Premiership and two Heineken Cup winners' medals in his four years at Leicester. His arrival could result in former South Africa star Jannie de Beer and Luke Smith, Saracens' number 10 for much of last season, leaving the club. Castaignede deal Chief executive Peter Deakin is due to meet both in the next couple of days to resolve their futures. The signing of Goode signals a more youthful approach from Shelford and Saracens. But he is looking forward to playing with the likes of Australian Tim Horan and Frenchman Thomas Castaignede, who today signed a new four-year deal with the Watford-based club. Castaignede returned to action at the end of last season following an 18-month absence with Achilles tendon trouble which needed a total of four. "I'm very pleased that I am now in a position to sign a new contract with Saracens," he said. "Things haven't been easy for me with my injury but the support I received from the club has been fantastic. "It was a long road for me and to have been part of a few games at the end of the season was great." | See also: 31 May 02 | English Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top English stories now: Links to more English stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
