Swansea had been dubbed the crisis club of Welsh rugby but they responded to their critics with a three-try victory over visiting Ebbw Vale.
However, the Steelmen had led 15-7 at half-time and it looked as though the All Whites would sink to new depths. With both sides out of the running for Celtic League quarter-final places there was only pride to play for. Swansea at least played with more urgency after the break and scored two tries in the space of four minutes to open up a 21-15 advantage. Then Thomas stepped in with a drop goal and had the final word, scoring nine points in the dying minutes.
