| Friday, 30 August, 2002, 20:47 GMT 21:47 UK Wing Williams off the mark ![]() Shaun Connor tries to outwit the Caerphilly defence Neath 25-6 Caerphilly Adrian Durston scored a try on his competitive Neath debut as the Welsh All Blacks opened their Celtic League campaign by seeing off Caerphilly at The Gnoll. But Neath missed out on a bonus point as the visitors prevented them scoring four tries. Durston crossed early in the second half after following up his own kick ahead and beating the defence to the bounce.
But Neath could not add to their tally of three tries despite having an abundance of possession. They led 8-6 after a lacklustre first half which refused to ignite. Just about the only bright moment arrived on 13 minutes when the Welsh All Blacks manufactured a superb try. It began with Durston, who joined from Bridgend at the end of last season, making ground some 60 metres out.
Lee Jarvis added a penalty but uncharacteristically pulled three shots at goal in the opening half hour. For Caerphilly, fly-half Luke Richards knocked over two penalties to reward his team's endeavour.
