Simpson scored twice as Wasps ran in seven tries on Sunday
Wasps claimed an emphatic bonus-point win over Premiership strugglers Leeds.
First-half tries from Joe Simpson and Richard Haughton and two penalties from Dave Walder gave Wasps a 16-6 lead.
But the hosts ran riot after the break with both Simpson and Haughton crossing again, followed by scores from Joe Ward, Billy Vunipola and Zak Taulafo.
Rhys Oakley and Christian Lewis-Pratt grabbed two tries for Leeds to add to Adrian Jarvis's earlier penalties but they proved to be a mere consolation.
The defeat leaves Leeds stuck at the foot of the Premiership table with only two matches left to play, meaning their remaining games against Harlequins and high-flying Northampton are must-wins for the West Yorkshire club.
Despite the final scoreline Leeds kept up the pace in the early stages but were undone by a young Wasps side who were looking for only their second win in 10 games.
The hosts were in front within three minutes as Luther Burrell lost possession of the ball in a tackle.
Haughton kicked ahead and Simpson won the race for the touchdown, although Walder missed the conversion attempt.
Leeds bounced back when Jarvis kicked a simple penalty but Wasps continued to threaten and a second try looked likely, however Michael Stephenson prevented Wasps from scoring by killing the ball near the Leeds line.
He received a yellow card and Walder kicked the resulting penalty to make it 8-3.
Jarvis reduced the arrears with a 30m penalty but Walder fired over his own kick in reply.
Wasps got their second try when Walder kicked ahead for Haughton to slip in at the corner, but again Walder was unable to convert, leaving the score 16-6 going into the break.
Stephenson returned early in the second half but Wasps took hold of the game.
Leeds carelessly lost possession in the tackle in their own half, Ben Broster hacked on and Haughton was on hand to scoop up and score the try, which Walder converted.
Two quick tries, both converted by Walder, sealed the victory for Wasps.
The first was a close-range drive from replacement hooker Ward, followed by a brilliant solo effort from Simpson, who breezed through the Leeds defence from a line-out on halfway.
With the game out of Leeds' reach, Wasps relaxed, allowing Oakley a try converted by Jarvis.
But replacements Vunipola and Taulafo both scored late tries, again both converted by Walder, before Lewis-Pratt picked up a consolation in the final minutes of the game.
Wasps interim director of rugby Leon Holden:
"The season hasn't gone spectacularly well but if we can win our next two games then maybe we can rescue the situation.
"We've got a few players coming back next week including Richard Birkett and Ben Jacobs so selection won't be easy but Twickenham and a large crowd is a different proposition."
On Wasps' youngsters:
"This is the start of the revolution, hopefully we'll look back on this in 10 years and say that. Youngsters have no fear and they have a touch of arrogance."
Leeds director of rugby Neil Back:
"We came here with absolute confidence and we thought our recent form would give us the edge and nobody would have predicted that scoreline.
"The squad feel they've let everyone at the club down but that performance was not a reflection of how they've been playing, we normally tough it out and it's only in four or five games that we haven't deserved anything.
"Next Sunday is a must-win game, we won't play as badly again and we need the whole of Yorkshire to come down and support us."
