Former England scrum-half Hill took over at Sixways in May 2010. |
Head coach Richard Hill wants Worcester Warriors to seal top spot in the championship so that he can rest players before the play-offs. Worcester have a 12 point lead at the top and take on second placed Bedford at Sixways on Saturday. "Our aim is to have top place secured by the time we play Birmingham," Hill told BBC Hereford and Worcester. "Bedford losing [at Cornish Pirates] is good for us and has opened up a gap, but we want to go another win clear. "We have Bedford at home next week so we can push further ahead." Hill said the win at Bristol on Sunday, after they had trailed 20-7 in the first half, was a good test of character for his team. | I was always confident this group of players had the confidence to comeback Warriors coach Richard Hill |
"The atmosphere, with the numbers in the crowd and a team that had played in the Premiership, was the kind of test we will encounter in the play-offs," said Hill. "The test was could we cope with the pressure, because we were the favourites, and come here in front of packed house and get a good win and a good performance. We have done both those things. "The key now is can we cope with the pressure come the play-offs, and hopefully semi-finals? Can we come back from 15 points behind, have we got the bottle to come back? "This result was a massive step forward. I was always confident this group of players had the confidence to comeback. Hill was in charge at Bristol for five years and says he got some provocative comments from the home fans. "I was getting some grief from three blokes behind me when we were losing. They did shake my hands afterwards and said they had been well beaten, but it was a bit painful for the first 20 minutes."
