Stephen Ferris hopes to recover from a calf injury and face Argentina

Ireland coach Declan Kidney will not reveal his team to face Argentina until Friday as several players are fighting to be fit for the final autumn Test.

Stephen Ferris and David Wallace are the latest concerns but the flankers are expected to recover in time.

Ulster's Ferris is getting treatment for a calf injury while Munster man Wallace has an Achilles problem.

Rory Best, Luke Fitzgerald and Rob Kearney are definitely out of Sunday's game because of injuries.

Best suffered a fractured cheekbone in Saturday's 38-18 defeat by New Zealand and is sidelined for six weeks.

Fitzgerald will also be out for six weeks with a knee ligament injury while Kearney will have exploratory surgery on knee cartilage damage.

Captain Brian O'Driscoll has been nursing a shoulder problem but is expected to be available.

Gordon D'Arcy and Tommy Bowe should also be passed fit as they continue their rehabilitation from calf strains.

"We had a few guys sitting out Tuesday's session - David Wallace, Gordon D'Arcy, Stephen Ferris and Tommy Bowe," said team manager Paul McNaughton.

"They have various knocks while some other guys, such as Brian O'Driscoll and Damien Varley, have done modified non-contact work.

"We expect Brian to be OK. He got a bruise on his AC joint, but he trained, though it was not a full contact session.

"All of those players are under consideration for selection and we do not anticipate any problem with them.

"We will wait until Friday to name the team because it is a Sunday game.

"We just need more time to think and also the injuries should be clarified by then.

"We would not take a risk on any player's fitness. You cannot send out anyone who is 90% fit and hope for the best."
