Northampton (11) 28 Tries: Diggin, Clark, Myler Cons: Myler 2 Pens: Myler 3 Dragons (3) 3 Pens: M Jones
Northampton proved far too strong for Newport Gwent Dragons as they cruised to a 28-3 home win in the LV= Cup.
Saints, who won the competition last season, benefited from uncontested scrums as three Dragons players were sent to the sin-bin during the game.
Tries from Paul Diggin, Calum Clark and Stephen Myler sealed the win although Northampton missed out on a fourth try which would have brought a bonus point.
Dan Wray, Lloyd Burns and Nigel Hall were all sin-binned for the visitors.
Northampton Saints director of rugby Jim Mallinder tells BBC Radio Northampton: "It was a good win - it was convincing. We wanted that bonus point and we had opportunities, but we didn't take them.
"They were down to fourteen men on numerous occasions, and it was a little bit disappointing that it was uncontested at the scrum because we were getting advantage in that area.
"Our scrum is a massive weapon, and we're getting plenty from it. Today, we just weren't as sharp and lost the ball too easily."
