Worcester lifted by Sixways crowd, says Richard Hill

Worcester coach Richard Hill admits that his side were given a huge boost by their biggest gate of the season for Friday night's home win over Bristol.

Hill had appealed for increased home support and a healthy 7,474 turned up.

"It was important for us for the crowd to set the example for the players to respond to," Hill told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"I do like the experience under lights. You get that close-in atmosphere and we want to repeat that."

Following this Saturday's tough trip to Goldington Road, when Worcester put their 100 per cent record on the line against second-placed Bedford, the Warriors then host two more Friday night home games - and Hill cannot wait.

"We wanted the crowd to enjoy themselves and hopefully they will come again for the next game," said Hill ."We have two more Friday night games in the next few weeks."

Hill admits that the Warriors backroom staff concentrated more on his player's minds than bodies in their preparations for the Bristol game.

"For the first time, we did a lot of work not on technique, but just on getting the players in the right frame of mind," admitted the former Bristol coach.

"Despite Bristol's position in the table, they are a good side, and the players treated them with a lot of respect.

"Physically we had to be on our game. If we had not been, Bristol would have come here and won."
