Cardiff Blues have been drawn in the same group as Andy Powell's new side London Wasps in the 2010/11 LV= Cup. The unusual format of the Anglo-Welsh tournament means the teams will be kept apart in the pool stages, though. The Blues open at Bath on the weekend of 6 November, with the Wasps away at newcomers Exeter Chiefs. The Ospreys are away at Newcastle Falcons, while Newport Gwent Dragons host Gloucester and the Scarlets welcome Leeds to Llanelli. The opening weekend is completed by three all-Premiership fixtures, Cup holders Northampton at Saracens, Sale welcoming London Irish and Leicester hosting Harlequins. The competition, whose final will be on the weekend of 19 March at a venue yet to be confirmed, sees teams from pool one play those in pool four, and those from pool two facing sides from pool three, the group winners making the semi-finals. The English sides have the motivation of Heineken Cup qualification if they win the tournament.
