Matt Banahan will miss the rest of England's summer tour after being given a two-week ban for a dangerous tackle against the Australian Barbarians.

The Bath wing was cited for a "lifting tackle" on Australian centre Berrick Barnes during Tuesday's 15-9 victory.

He attended a disciplinary hearing in Sydney on Wednesday and has been suspended until 30 June.

Banahan will miss Saturday's second Test against Australia as well as next week's game with New Zealand Maori.

New Zealand judicial officer Peter Hobbs ruled on the incident and after reviewing video footage, he deemed the offence was at the low end of seriousness.

Banahan was unlikely to have played in the Test against Australia but he started both midweek matches and would have been in contention for the Maori match in Napier on 23 June.

The 23-year-old is the third England player to be cited on the tour.

Lock Dave Attwood escaped sanction over two stamping charges following last Tuesday's 28-28 draw with the Australian Barbarians after England complained that the citing commissioner should not have been Australian.

And wing Mark Cueto was found not guilty of a dangerous tackle on centre Barnes in Saturday's 27-17 first Test defeat by the Wallabies.
