Esher director of rugby Mike Schmid says his side need to focus on sealing the National One title after victory over promotion rivals London Scottish. The Surrey side moved four points clear of the Exiles after the weekend's 53-15 win at the Richmond Athletic Ground. Schmid told BBC Surrey: "I am very happy. It was a big, big game for us. It gives us a nice lead with a game in hand over Scottish. "We've still got a long way to go but where we are positioned is good." He added: "Now you've got to try and get through the tricky away fixtures and some of the difficult teams to beat. We've really now got to test our mental strength and turn up on Saturday and play as well as we possibly can." Schmid's side are now in control of National One after winning all but one of their 15 games and accumulating nine bonus points in the process. "I want [the squad] to remember what the day is like. I want them to remember when we score and the team ethos and the feeling they get when they win the game," he said. "That's just vital and that's what we play the game for every week. We search for that feeling and elation and bonding. "Just a hard day at the office is done and you can be satisfied with your work. We search for that in every game and they've got to remember that and work as hard as they can in every game no matter who they are playing." Esher return to home soil next Saturday, they host ninth-placed Stourbridge.
