Worcester opened their LV= Cup campaign with a bonus-point win over Newcastle. Rob Miller kicked the Falcons into an early lead but Willie Walker levelled before Warriors wing Miles Benjamin went over for the game's first try. Miller cut the lead to two points just before half-time but Walker restored the hosts' advantage with a drop-goal. And converted tries from Tom Wood, Ollie Frost and Jake Abbott ensured Worcester started their campaign in the renamed Anglo-Welsh Cup with a win.
Worcester director of rugby Mike Ruddock told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "The supporters are fantastic and we inevitably give them a roller-coaster ride here yet they stick with us week in, week out. "I think they saw some good rugby today and the talking points will be that we scored some good tries from driving mauls. "But the intent and the ambition was there to put the ball wider and to ask some questions of their defence wider out."
