Harlequins had to settle for a draw in their opening LV= Cup encounter as a young Scarlets side frustrated their hosts at The Stoop. David Strettle went over for an early try but the visitors led 10-7 at half-time after a converted Gareth Maule try, Rhys Priestland adding a penalty. Andy Fenby sprinted over in the second half, George Robson replying for Quins. Both sides had chances to win it with Rory Clegg missing a penalty and Morgan Stoddart knocking on over the line.
Harlequins captain Chris Robshaw: "We started so well and then probably got a bit complacent in the first half and took our foot off the gas. "We got a bit of a telling-off at half-time but unfortunately we were just too sloppy and didn't take our chances. "We are going to have to take a look at ourselves this week and go up to Newcastle and get a result next week." Scarlets coach Nigel Davies: "I am so delighted with the young players that came here and performed so well. "I thought we were a bit unlucky, particularly in the second half, when a few harsh decisions went against us. But we stuck to our guns and probably deserved to win overall. "I didn't know what to expect from some of the youngsters but they were magnificent. That rearguard defensive effort in the last 20 minutes was as good as we've seen in a while."
