Birmingham & Solihull now have until 23 October to settle their debt to Inland Revenue, after being given a short extension to their deadline. Originally the Bees were told to pay the £93,000 by the close of business on Wednesday or face being wound up. The Championship side are the subject of interest from two investors who are keen to keep the Bees afloat. They have also been asked to present a viable business plan to the Rugby Football Union by the end of the week. Birmingham & Solihull's financial difficulties, which have prevented players being paid for two months, have already led several departures from the first-team squad. Fly-half Mark Woodrow, flanker Rob Connolly and props Craig Voisey and Darren O'Reilly have already left Sharman's Cross Road. In addition second row Shaun Pammenter has been offered a deal in Italy and full-back Reece Spee is considering an offer to move to local rivals Moseley. The exodus left an inexperienced side to face Rotherham last weekend but the club hope to be able to field a team to honour the fixture at Bedford in the Championship this weekend as they go in search of their first win of the season.
