John Hayes will be available for Ireland's Autumn internationals |
Munster and Ireland prop John Hayes has been handed a six-week ban for a stamp on Cian Healy during Saturday's Magners League defeat by Leinster. As a result of the ban, Hayes will miss Munster's Heineken Cup opener against Northampton this weekend and the encounter with Treviso on 17 October. However, he is available for Ireland's game against Australia on 15 November as his ban expires a day earlier. The prop will also miss Magners League matches against Edinburgh and Ulster. Hayes has the right to appeal against the suspension. The 94-times capped prop appeared at a disciplinary hearing in Belfast on Tuesday. The Irish face Australia at Croke Park on Sunday, 15 November. Declan Kidney's side then tackle Fiji at the RDS on 21 November before finishing up with an eagerly-awaited clash with current World Champions South Africa on 28 November. Hayes was found guilty of stamping on Leinster prop Healy in the 55th minute at the RDS which resulted in an immediate red card. The IRFU disciplinary panel was made up of Hugh Logan (chairman), Stephen Hilditch and Neil Jackson.
