Esher Rugby began their 2009/10 season by thrashing Manchester 148-0 in a record breaking victory. They passed the previous National League record (136-0) of both the biggest winning margin and the most points in a game. Leading 71-0 at half time they ran in a total of 22 tries, matching the feat of Australia against Namibia in the 2003 World Cup. Manchester were relegated with Esher from National League One last season. Sam Ulph broke the Esher individual record for most points in a game, scoring three tries and making 18 conversions. His tally for the game was 51, breaking the previous record set by Michael Corcoran back in 1999. Esher face Cinderford on Saturday in their first home game of the season. Kick off at Molesey Road is 1500 BST.
