Fond farewell for Nottingham duo

Joe Duffy
Duffy had not missed a game for Nottingham since 2005

Nottingham hooker Joe Duffy and number eight Dan Montagu bowed out in style with standing ovations in their final match for the club on Sunday.

Both players have become popular during their time at Meadow Lane and were cheered off when substituted in the 55-0 win against Coventry.

Montagu, 26, told BBC Radio Nottingham: "I have had an amazing time here and will remember it forever.

"To receive standing ovations was amazing and pretty emotional."

The Australian will now play his rugby with Bristol whilst Duffy, also 26, joins Guinness Premiership side Leicester Tigers.

Both players marked their final outings by scoring tries during the Green and Whites crushing victory over Coventry.

Alex Dodge, David Jackson, Nic Rouse, Jack Cobden and Duffy all ran in first-half tries at Meadow Lane as the home side went in 34-0 up at the break.

Montagu then crossed, before Chris Pilgrim twice got in on the act, Jackson adding 15 points with the boot.

The two teams meet again in Saturday's final game at the Butts Park Arena as Nottingham hope clinch another top-three finish in National One.
