Gollings' extra-time score ensured Plate success for England |
England lost to Fiji in the quarter-finals of the IRB Sevens series in Adelaide but bounced back to win the second-tier Plate competition. Coach Ben Ryan's team, who lost 40-0 to Fiji in the Cup quarter-final, beat Australia 24-19 in the Plate final. Ryan said: "I was very pleased with the way we came back. We're second in the series and are looking forward to playing next month at Twickenham." Scotland lost 24-21 to the USA in the fourth-tier Shield final. England and Australia were level at 19-19 at the final whistle in the Plate final and it needed an extra-time sudden death score from Gollings, who plays in Australia for the Gold Coast Breakers, to settle the game. | 606: DEBATE |
