London Irish and Northampton finished as the top two seeds for the European Challenge Cup quarter-finals after completing their pool matches unbeaten.

The Exiles, who scored 44 tries and 300 points in their six games, won 23-8 in Rovigo, with tries from Kieran Roche, Adam Thompstone and Dominic Shabbo.

Mark Easter, Soane Tonga'uiha and Chris Ashton all scored twice as Saints, who managed 37 overall, beat Toulon 52-11.

Worcester also secured a home quarter-final with a 68-17 win over Petrarca.

The Warriors' 10 tries (36 overall) saw them overtake Brive (33) on total number of tries scored, after the two sides both finished on 24 points in their respective groups.

Saracens had already clinched the other home quarter-final on Friday with a comfortable 24-3 away win over French side Stade Montois.

Sarries scored three first-half tries through centre Andy Farrell, prop Matias Aguero and number eight Donald Barrell to lead 17-3 at the break.

Gordon Ross converted all three tries and added a penalty to seal victory for the runaway group winners.

In Galway, Connacht beat Dax 49-3 to secure a best runners-up spot.

Newcastle sealed a straightforward 43-13 win in Spain on Sunday against Cetransa El Salvador to also qualify as a best runner-up.

Seven different players ran in tries for the Falcons, with fly-half Rory Clegg kicking four conversions.

Bristol, with only an outside chance of making the last eight, beat Montpellier 25-14 but failed to progress.
