Bees' hooker Ben Phillips scored twice in their win over Stourbridge |
Birmingham & Solihull Bees stayed in touch at the top of National Two with an exciting 35-25 win over Stourbridge. A Ben Barley try gave Stour an early lead but the Bees hit back with scores from Chris Brightwell and Ben Phillips to lead 18-17 at half-time. Martin Freeman then went over to put Stour back in front before scores from Brightwell and Phillips gave the Bees an advantage they never lost. The result leaves the Bees seven points behind leaders Redruth. Stour, who welcomed back prop Chris Rowland against Bees after two months out with a fractured skull, are ninth with 27 points from 14 games. Bees entertain third-placed Cambridge next on Saturday, 3 January while Stour are at Mounts Bay who are just four points behind them in the table.
