 | The whole squad is aware of the small adjustments we need to make that could have a large impact on our game | Saturday's game against Bedford really showed the unpredictable nature of National League One rugby. With one point separating the two teams at 50 minutes, it was looking like it would be a tense end to the game. However, with a couple of things not going our way, we ended up losing the game 37-9. It is obviously disappointing to go down by this margin but having analysed the game this week, the whole squad is aware of the small adjustments we need to make that have could a large impact on our game. Saturday was also a particularly bad day for two of our players on a personal level. Martin Rice was forced off with what has now been confirmed as ligament damage to his knee that is likely to see him out for four months. Everyone in the squad is gutted for Ricey as he has been desperately unlucky with injuries in the last two years and was really finding some destructive form. It is a pity it should happen to such a nice bloke as well but he returned sooner than expected last time and I'm sure he will do the same again. | I am hoping to be involved in some way after coming through my first game since breaking my jaw with no ill-effects last Sunday for the Warriors. |
Keiran Hallett also suffered a nasty looking injury as half-time approached that left him receiving treatment on the ground for around 5 minutes. Luckily no fracture was found in his eye socket which would have resulted in a lengthy absence. I'm sure that he will now be focussing on returning as quickly as possible as well as retaining his boy band looks! This week sees the visit of Esher to Brickfields. It is a very important game for us as it is an opportunity to put in a great performance for the home fans and keep adding to the momentum we have been building over the last few weeks. Despite last week's result, the mood in the camp is good and we have had a really sharp, focussed week of training and the boys are itching to get out there and put it to good use. Personally, I am hoping to be involved in some way after coming through my first game since breaking my jaw with no ill-effects last Sunday for the Warriors. Team selection is left until late in the week so I will holding my breath until then.
