National One side Leeds Carnegie have appointed Steve Nance as their new performance director. He has previously worked with Fulham FC and was part of the Australian coaching team that led the Wallabies to success in the 1999 World Cup in Wales. "I am really excited about joining up with Leeds Carnegie for a number of reasons," said Nance. "I am enjoying working with a group of players who are really humble, there is a hard work-ethic within the group." Nance has also worked for Queensland Reds and Clermont Ferrand in France, in rugby league with Brisbane Broncos and North Queensland Cowboys, and also in hockey, rowing and triathlon. He will work alongside director of rugby Andy Key and head coach Neil Back. Key added: "We have been fortunate to get someone of Steve's experience and he fits the performance director role that Neil Back and I recognised was lacking here when we first arrived. "Steve brings a wealth of experience and the ability to turn an athlete into an outstanding athlete. "On the other side of that Neil and I and the other coaching staff take the athlete and turn him into an outstanding rugby player."
