England's captain and former Worcester star Catherine Spencer

Worcester's Gemma Sharples came off the bench to play her part in a big win for England's women over the USA in their warm-up match ahead of the Nations Cup.

England ran in eight tries as they eased to a 50-3 victory at Esher Rugby Club on Tuesday.

Sharples got her chance after 56 minutes when she replaced the Saracens flanker Margaret Alphonsi.

England will again take on the United States in the opening match of the Nations Cup on Friday 22 August.
