New Exeter Chiefs winger Matt Jess has picked up three of Launceston's four Player of the Year awards. Jess, who was National One's top try-scorer whilst with the Cornish All Blacks last season, picked up players', supporters' and committee awards. "He has been an absolute inspiration to the Cornish All Blacks over the last 12 months," said head coach Jon Hill. Steve Perry won the coaches' award after slotting in at fly-half after Scott Ireland broke his leg. Jess played all but 20 minutes of the All Blacks' entire 2007-08 campaign. He was replaced midway through the second half of the National Trophy match with Blackheath in February. "We wish him all the very best for his future career up the A30, and he will always be welcome back here at any stage in the future," added Hill.
