Devon are getting ready to defend their County Championship title at Twickenham on Sunday.

The Bill Beaumont Cup holders face Yorkshire after an indifferent season.

"We've had three tight games this season and although it's always nice to win, the victories haven't been that comfortable," said coach Graham Dawe.

Devon won all their games in the qualifying round for the final but only edged past Gloucestershire 10-7 and Somerset 19-13.

But they have a great record recently in the county championship.

They have made the last four finals, winning three of them. But the last time they faced Yorkshire in the final, in 2000, they went down 16-9.

"Although we haven't been keeping a close eye on the progress of Yorkshire, we know they are going to be a physical side. They are going to be a good challenge, but we have to get our power play in and control the game," Dawe said.

There's always a chance that after five successive visits to Twickenham complacency may be an issue for Devon

Lancashire coach Mark Nelson

But the coach of Yorkshire's big northern rivals, Lancashire, says the White Rose side can win in London.

"I thought the current Yorkshire side is the best I've come across in my time and I think they have a fair chance," said Lancashire coach Mark Nelson.

Nelson was part of the coaching set-up when Lancashire beat Devon at Twickenham 32-26 in 2006, although Devon got revenge with a 27-6 win in last year's final.

"There's always a chance that after five successive visits to Twickenham complacency may be an issue for Devon," Nelson added.

"It's a final and it shouldn't be, but you never know. When we beat them a couple of years back, they were very confident and seemed to feel that they only had to turn up to win."
