England great Hill bade farewell to the big time on Sunday |
Former England flanker Richard Hill, 34, could make one final appearance for Saracens before retiring. The World Cup-winner, who has had two major operations on his left knee, might play in the Premiership game against Bristol on 10 May. "There are too many emotions at the moment," said Hill, who had to hold back tears after Saracens' 18-16 Heineken Cup last-four loss to Munster. "I am not ready to decide if I will play against Bristol." Hill, who turns 35 next month, has been playing on virtually one leg in recent times as injury takes its toll. Saracens are well off the pace in the Premiership, and the defeat by Munster will be the last major occasion of a playing career which peaked when England won the 2003 World Cup final in Sydney. "It was tough coming off knowing it was the last time I will ever play at that level," said Hill, who won 71 England caps and went on three Lions tours. "But given what I have been through the last few years, there is huge satisfaction to get within a score of reaching a Heineken Cup final."
